Watch and Learn

Sunday, December 12th, 2010

As much as an amateur as I may be, I finally learned how to shoot, edit, and upload videos to YouTube, and now I’m trying to make up for lost time!  I don’t know if any of you have watched our Smoky Eye demonstration with our fabulous makeup artist, Trevis, but it’s the first in a series of video tutorials that I’ve been (and will continue) shooting.  These videos are obviously meant to give the viewer a detailed lesson on how to achieve “professional” makeup looks at home, but they are also to give our amazing online customers a little view into the “brick and mortar” Kiss and Makeup.  I hope you all enjoy the tutorials I post, and if anyone ever has a suggestion for a “look” they’d like to see, I’d love to heat it!

Happy Watching!

The Perfect Custom Manicure

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

For those of you who are tired of the same old Ballet Slippers or Angora Cardi that’s on everyone’s nails, Lippmann Collection has come out with a collection of glitter nailpolishes that are perfect for layering over other colors for a totally customized manicure.

Today Was A Fairytale is a silver glitter that when layered over a dark blue like Scotch’s Flying Scotsman, is reminiscent of a midnight sky under the stars. When layered over a gray or silver, like Nars’ Full Metal Jacket or Lippmann’s Hit Me With Your Best Shot, it looks like a gauzy Vera Wang dress.

Boom Boom Pow is a rock ‘n roll gold glitter that’s super cool layered over a burgandy like Just Walk Away Renee, and feminine and pretty over a pale pink like Shape of My Heart-kind of like a ballerina’s tulle skirt.

Across The Universe is a mixture of blue and green glitter that has the effect of a mermaid under the sea when layered over another blue of green like Rehab, a sheer blue.

Happy Birthday was a top seller when it came out last year. It’s a multi colored glitter that looks like a cupcake when layered over a bright or pastel color, and also looks really hot over a dark color like black or Dark Side of the Moon.

Bad Romance is the only glitter color that looks amazing on it’s own. This dark plum color looks subtle with a little hint of fun when the light hits it at different angles. Two coats make this color opaque enough to wear on it’s own.

Of course the best way to keep your manicure looking fresh and chip free is to reapply a topcoat every few days (I love Hard Rock from Lippmann) and keep your cuticles soft (again, Lippmann makes a great cuticle remover). There are so many combinations to make your manicure unique-these colors are just perfect for experimenting with! We’d love to hear what color mixes you come up with!

Check out our facebook fan page for some pictures of some of the combinations mentioned above.
